The First Tee of Massachusetts - Lynnfield Chapter
In 2006, a second satellite facility opened at the Reedy Meadow Golf Course in Lynnfield. At that site, more than 400 children from area Park & Recreation Departments took part in a summer-long program that taught them the basics of the game of golf, and the life skills that will allow them to succeed both on and off the golf course.
Owned by the Town of Lynnfield, Reedy Meadow Golf Course is a 9-hole par-3 golf course that is enjoyable for players of all ability levels. In its inaugural summer of programming, children from Peabody, Lynnfield, Saugus, and Salem, all took part in the curriculum of The First Tee of Massachusetts.
Under the direction of Don Lyons and his staff, these children learned all aspects of the game of golf including putting, chipping, driving, rules, and etiquette.
"We are really looking forward to bringing this program and the game of golf to area children," said Lyons. "We know that we can make an impact in the lives of many kids in this area who might not have the chance to experience the game."
