The Future of the Game

The Future of the Game
In 1914, young Raymond Ouimet captured the inaugural Massachusetts Junior Amateur Championship at Oakley Country Club. Since that time, scores of other youngsters have developed and honed their skills on courses in Massachusetts.

For nearly 100 years, the MGA has been committed to providing opportunities for children - boys and girls - interested in playing the game of golf. To this day, the number of juniors playing golf is surging. A recent survey conducted by the MGA revealed that 30,000 children (aged 5-18) participated in instruction at a 'structured junior golf program' in 2001 at one of more than 380 MGA member clubs

In addition to assisting juniors interested in competitive golf, the MGA developed its ForeKids Golf Program in 1993 in hopes of bringing the game of golf to those who might never have a chance to pick up a club otherwise. Since that time, the program has serviced more than 20,000 youth in the Commonwealth and in April 2003 a new headquarters - MGA Links at Mamantapett - for the program opened its doors in Norton, Massachusetts.

The future has never looked so bright for junior golf!
