What is The First Tee Life Skills Experience?
The Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that separates The First Tee from many other junior golf programs.  The First Tee Life Skills Experience is used to further enhance and instill the inherent values of the game of golf, and show participants how these values transfer into other aspects of their lives.  Students are taught about responsibility, courtesy, how to make decisions by thinking about the possible consequences, how to set goals, how to define those goals, the importance of maintaining a positive attitude as well as the importance of showing respect for others.

At what age can a person participate in The First Tee?
The First Tee Life Skills Experience is designed for young people ages 8-18. Participants may turn 8 years of age within the 2011 calendar year.

Is food/beverage provided?
No. Food and beverage are not provided. Children may bring a lunch with them, or bring money to purchase items from the Fenway Golf Snack Bar.

Does my child need golf clubs/equipment to participate? What should I bring?
No. Golf clubs and equipment will be provided for those who do not have their own. Sneakers are appropriate footwear. No athletic cleats and no ripped/torn clothing.

How are the participants grouped?
Participants are grouped by age and ability.

Is there a weather cancellation policy?
The First Tee will not cancel programs due to rain showers. However, in the case of extreme weather conditions, the director at each site may cancel or postpone the program for the safety of the participants. To determine if there is a cancellation or postponement, please check with the program director at your site (Joe Eadie & Susan Teitel). In the rare event of a program cancellation, your child will not be left alone. The First Tee cannot provide refunds for cancellations or postponements that are weather-related.

Are scholarships available for participants?
This issue will be handled on a case by case basis as determined by TFT MA staff. If a financial hardship exists, please notify Joe McCabe, Executive Director of The First Tee of Massachusetts at jmccabe@mgalinks.org or (774) 430-9100 ext. 2210.
