In conjunction with the opening of MGA Links at Mamantapett, the MGA expanded its outreach to young children by partnering with The First Tee, a national junior development initiative of the World Golf Foundation.
In addition to learning basic skills of the game, The First Tee participants are introduced to the nine core values inherent in the game: honesty, integrity, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, sportsmanship, judgment, respect and courtesy.
The MGA will once again be hosting what will be the 5th Annual MGA Junior Golf Fund Golf Tournament on Monday, October 31 at TPC of Boston. A Letter From the Desk of the Executive Director With the fall golf season approaching so is the day of our annual MGA Jr. Golf Fund outing to help support all of our junior golf outreach efforts of The First Tee of Massachusetts. This year's event will be held at TPC Boston on Monday October 31st, home of the PGA Tour's Deutsche Bank Championship. The day will consist of player gift, lunch, golf (10:00 a.m. shotgun start), and will be followed by an awards reception with light fare (passed hors d'oeuvres and appetizers). Format for the golf will be play your own ball – best gross and net scores of the group will be recorded. Costs will remain $800.00 for a foursome and $225.00 for an individual golfer. This outing has proven to be a great annual event for our program. We cannot thank you and your fellow golfers who have participated in past events enough for your outstanding continued support. Your support has allowed many of our participants to take part in opportunities that have made significant impacts on their lives. Within the last three years, The First Tee of Massachusetts has had participants attend national events like The First Tee Life Skills & Leadership Academy, The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, The First Tee Future Leaders Forum, and The Invitational for The First Tee. All of these opportunities would not have been possible without your support! Please join us on October 31st at TPC Boston for a great day of golf to help support a very worthy cause. We expect that our field will fill up fast so please send in your registrations very quickly. Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (774) 430-9100 ext. 2210 or jmccabe@mgalinks.org. On behalf of our participants and staff, thank you once again for your support and we look forward to seeing you very soon. Sincerely,

The unique life skills platform of The First Tee helps participants become comfortable introducing themselves to others, meeting new people, learning something new, setting goals, and dealing with conflict. The life skills learned are useful for the participants both on and off the golf course.
Since its inception in 1997, The First Tee has opened over 100 facilities and has introduced the game of golf to over 170,000 young people since 2000. The program's focus is to give young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. The World Golf Foundation, which is supported by each of the major international golf organizations and professional tours, oversees the World Golf Hall of Fame and other nonprofit components of World Golf Village near St. Augustine, FL.
