MGA Links at Mamantapett — August Update

We hope that you all are enjoying your summer vacation and this season here at the Links.We have a few exciting events coming up in the month of August that we want you all to know about.

*New* Dates for 2010 Junior Championship
Due to the lack of people signed up for the Junior Club Championship, we are going to change the dates from July 29-31 to AUGUST 19-21.

We hope that this move will generate more participation and fun for everyone. Please note that there will be 2 divisions — Stroke Play and Match Play. In order to qualify for Match Play you must qualify on Thursday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. (9 holes). If you do not qualify for the Match Play you will automatically be entered into the Stroke Play, which will be 18 holes on Friday and Saturday. For those 10 years old and younger we will have a 9-hole tournament on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Don't Miss Out on the Cupboard of Kindness Tournament
On Saturday August 14, we will be hosting the first annual Cupboard of Kindness Tournament at 1:00 p.m. The format is a 4 person scramble and the event is open to anyone who would like to play. We have applications available in the Pro Shop or if you would like to sign up for the event you can email Liz LaVerghetta (lavaG1119@aol.com) or Cora Bernier (coratheexplorer@aim.com).

All proceeds will go directly to the Norton Food Pantry, so we ask that you please bring nonperishable food items to donate to the pantry on the day of the event (click here for a list of desired donations).

Course Damage Update
This past weekend we suffered damage to some of our greens (see photos to the right).

There were considerable divots taken out of three greens. While we have no way of policing the golf course at all times, we do ask that you respect our course.

If you see anyone doing anything that is not proper on the golf course, you should report that action immediately to the Pro Shop. We all enjoy this game and want to keep our course in the best condition we can for our members.
