Entries are open to amateur golfers who hold membership in an MGA member club and have an up-to-date MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4 (as determined by the May 1, 2016 Handicap Revision), or who have completed their handicap certification.

WAGR Counting Event

The World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), which comprises a women's ranking and a men's ranking for elite amateur players, is offered by The R&A and the USGA as a global service to golf. WAGR is updated every Wednesday on and is available to national federations and organizers of amateur and professional events and tours for purposes of offering exemptions, selecting national teams and assembling Orders of Merit. WAGR currently incorporates over 4,000 events with over 10,000 players and endeavors to be the most comprehensive and accurate ranking in golf by effectively comparing players from around the world who may never directly compete against one another.

2015 Championship Highlights

Nick McLaughlin (Far Corner GC) always stands tall, but on July 17 at Oak Hill County Club he stood above the rest. Under perfect conditions, the senior at the University of Virginia who stands 6 feet and six inches tall delivered a masterful performance to capture the 107th Massachusetts Amateur Championship with a 4 and 3 victory over Patrick Frodigh (Dedham C&PC). He earned stroke-play medalist honors by four strokes over a field of 144 competitors and then methodically worked his way through the match-play bracket as the top seed. Read More
