Eligibility

SENIOR DIVISION: Entries are open to any amateur Father and Son team (sons who are 18 or older as of midnight August 11, 2015) who both hold a membership at an MGA member club and have an up-to-date combined MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 12.0 (as determined by the July 1, 2015 Handicap Revision) or have completed their handicap certification as defined on the Entry Form.

The field is limited to 90 teams. Fathers are permitted to compete in the Junior & Senior Divisions with a different son. Entries will be on a first come, first served basis.

JUNIOR DIVISION: Entries are open to any amateur Father and Son team (sons who have reached their 14th birthday and will not reach their 18th birthday by midnight August 12, 2015) who both hold a membership at an MGA member club and have an up-to-date combined MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 20.0 (as determined by the July 1, 2015 Handicap Revision) or have completed their handicap certification as defined on the Entry Form.

The field is limited to 90 teams. Fathers are permitted to compete in both the Junior & Senior Divisions with a different son. Entries will be on a first come, first served basis.

About the Father & Son

The best father and son pair in the state compete annually at this popular MGA event. The Father & Son Championship features father & son teams from MGA Member Clubs who compete in 18 holes at foursomes stroke play (selected drive - alternate shot). The event currently features a Junior Division (sons - ages 14 to 17) and Senior Division (sons - 18 & older).

2014 Championship Highlights

In the Senior Division and for the third time in five years, the team of James Drohen (Bradford CC) & Bill Drohen (Brookmeadow CC) walked away from the Massachusetts Father & Son Championship with more than a smile. In the Junior Division, the team of Jeff Hunt (CC of Wilbraham) and Stephen Hunt (CC of Wilbraham) posted a score of 2-under par 68 at Willowbend to capture the junior division title. The Hunts put on a dominating performance including a memorable finish, which saw them play 5-under par golf through their final 12 holes. They were the only team under par on Tuesday and finished four strokes ahead the second-place team. Read More
