Headline: 28th Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship Set for May 5-6 at Franklin CC & Maplegate CC

Norton, MA – Starting times, pairings and course assignments for the first and second rounds of the 2008 Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship are now available online.

The 28th playing of the Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship will be conducted at Franklin Country Club (Franklin) and Maplegate Country Club (Bellingham) on May 5-6. A total of 200 two-person teams will be competing for the title this year.

All competitors will compete in 36 holes of Four-Ball Stroke Play. This year's title is up for grabs as defending champions Evan Harmeling (Andover CC) and Colin Brennan (Indian Ridge CC) are currently completing their freshman year of college and will not be able to take part in this year's Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship.

Teams looking to recapture a title they recently once called their own include the duos of John Mazzocca (Walpole CC) and Donald Macintyre (Foxborough CC) – 2006; Bill Drohen (Bradford CC) and Andy Drohen (Crestview CC) – 2004; and Frank Vana, Jr. (Marlborough CC) and Michael McCarthy (Woodland GC) – 2002-2003.

A notable withdrawal from the 2008 Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship is the father and son team of Jim Ruschioni (Monoosnock CC) and Jay Ruschioni (Monoosnock CC). The two-time champions (1996, 2001) withdraw from the event today as a result of injury.

The Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship debuted in 1981 and has become one of the most popular events on the MGA Championship schedule. The event is open to two-person teams of amateur golfers who hold membership in an MGA member club and have an up-to-date combined MGA/USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 6.0.
