Headline: 2007 Massachusetts Amateur Championship Kicks Off on July 9th at Concord Country Club
Norton, MA – With less than one week remaining before the 99 th playing of the Massachusetts Amateur Championship, the MGA released starting times and pairings for the first two rounds of stroke play. The highly-anticipated Massachusetts Amateur Championship will take place at Concord Country Club on July 9-13.
Missing from this year's tournament will be defending champion Ben Spitz (The Harmon Club) as he is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Vying for the title are a host of talented players like eight-time Richard D. Haskell MGA Player of the Year Frank Vana, Jr. (Marlborough CC) and Jim Ruschioni (Indian Meadows GC) and Antonio Grillo (Farm Neck GC), the 2006 MGA Senior and Junior Players of the Year, respectively.
Also in this year's field are four former Massachusetts Amateur Champions – Steven Tasho (Thorny Lea GC), Flynt Lincoln (Longmeadow CC), Brendan Hester (Pleasant Valley CC) and Andy Drohen (St. Anne CC).
Championship Proper will consist of 18 holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. Following the second round, the low 32 scorers will continue on to Match Play Competition. A total of 144 competitors, including 14 exempt players, are scheduled to compete in this year's event.

Second Round, 18 Holes Stroke Play (The low 32 scorers will continue on to Match Play Competition. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will be used to determine the final Match Play participants.)
