Headline: Change of Venue Announced for the 2007 Massachusetts Senior Championship
Norton, MA – The MGA today announced that there will be a change of venue for the 2007 Massachusetts Senior Championship. The event will now be held on October 1-2 at The Golf Club of Cape Cod in East Falmouth, Massachusetts.
This event had been previously scheduled to be held at the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown. Due to a golf course improvement project that is currently underway at the club, the MGA Officials and course representatives felt that the course would not be ready for championship-caliber play by October and that it was in the best interest of the facility, the MGA and all of the competitors to not hold the event this year.
The MGA would like to extend its appreciation to the management and membership of The Golf Club of Cape Cod for opening its doors to the MGA and its competitors. This will be the first MGA Championship to be held at the East Falmouth course.
All registrations that have been accepted for the Massachusetts Senior Championship will be honored. The MGA will provide a full refund for any competitor wishing to drop out of the event due to the change of venue. Those individuals should contact Owen O'Malley at (774) 430-9100 ext. 2204.
The Massachusetts Senior Championship is open to amateur golfers who hold membership in an MGA Member Club, who have reached their 55th birthday by October 1, 2007 and have an up-to-date MGA/USGA GHIN Handicap Index not exceeding 5.0 (as determined by the August 17, 2007 Handicap Revision) or have completed their handicap certification as defined on the Entry Form.
The MGA apologizes for the inconvenience, but all decisions made are in the best interest of the host site and competitors. It is the organization's goal to make every MGA Championship an enjoyable experience for all.
