Headline: Kirk Hanefeld, Paul Parajeckas Advance at 2007 U.S. Senior Open Qualifying

Stow, MA – Local professional and former director of golf operations at The International Golf Club Kirk Hanefeld (Acton, MA) and wily veteran Paul Parajeckas (Woburn, MA) surged to the top of a talented field today at U.S. Senior Open Qualifying, which was held at Wedgewood Pines Country Club in Stow.

As a result of their performance today, those two players have earned the right to compete at the U.S. Senior Open Championship, which will be held on July 5-8 at Whistling Straits Country Club in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Hanefeld, who competes on the Champions Tour, fired an impressive medalist score of 5-under par 66… a round that featured a pair of 33s. In his first year on the Champions Tour, Hanefeld, 51, posted his best first at the 2006 Senior PGA Championship where he finished tied for 33rd place. Parajeckas earned his spot following a playoff at 1-under par 71.

The MGA annually conducts qualifying rounds for the major United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships, including the U.S. Open, Senior Open, Amateur, Junior Amateur, Senior Amateur, Mid-Amateur and the Amateur Public Links.
