Headline: Jeff Johnson Earns Medalist Honors at Day 6 of Massachusetts Amateur Qualifying

Worcester, MA – Jeff Johnson (Heritage CC) was the only player to go low today at Green Hill Municipal Golf Course during the sixth day of qualifying for the 2007 Massachusetts Amateur Championship. Johnson’s score of 1-under par 71 was good enough to earn medalist honors and a trip to Championship Proper, which is scheduled for July 9-13 at Concord Country Club.

Johnson, who resides in Charlton, was one of 12 competitors to advance during today’s qualifier. Just last month, Johnson qualified for the Massachusetts Open Championship after posting a 4-over par 76 on a challenging Salem Country Club layout.

On this day, the Heritage Hill Country Club member used a strong front nine to propel him to the top spot. His 2-under par 34 front nine was followed by a 1-over par 37 back nine. Johnson finished two strokes ahead of three golfers – Alan Alminas (Elmcrest CC), John McNeill (B.A.G.S.) and Tyler Johnson (Pine Ridge CC) – who all posted scores of 1-over par 73.

The final day of qualifying for the Massachusetts Amateur Championship will be held tomorrow at Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester. More than 60 amateur golfers will be vying for the final qualifying spots at that site.
