Headline: Final Day of Local Qualifying Held for 2007 Massachusetts Open Championship

North Falmouth, MA – Qualifying for the 2007 Massachusetts Open Championship has come to an end.

The fifth and final day of qualifying was held today at Ballymeade Country Club in North Falmouth. A total of 14 golfers advanced during today's round and have thus earned a spot at Championship Proper, which will be held on June 18-20 at Kernwood Country Club.

Firing a day-low score of 5-under par 67 was Canadian Tour player Jesse Smith (Dover, NH). Smith, a Colgate University graduate who is competing in his third season on the Canadian Tour, made the turn at 3-under par 33 and cruised home at a 2-under par 34 clip on the back nine.

One stroke back of Smith was a former Canadian Tour competitor and Osterville native, John Curley (Centerville, MA).

The low amateur scorer of the day was Keith Stone (Vesper CC), who posted a 1-under par 71. Stone was one of five amateur qualifiers to advance today.
