Headline: Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) Opens Online Registration for 2007 Championship Season
Norton, MA – The MGA is letting amateur golfers get a jump on the upcoming season by releasing its 2007 schedule of amateur Championship events and opening online registration for all competitors today.
With more than 90 percent of its applications being completed online, the MGA encourages all interested participants to register early as qualifying spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The 2007 Championship season will begin on May 7-8 with the Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship. After spending two straight years on Cape Cod, this year's two-person team event will be co-hosted in Central Massachusetts at Mount Pleasant Country Club in Boylston and Shaker Hills Golf Club in Harvard.
The following month, the Massachusetts Open Championship – which features some of New England 's best amateur and professional golfers – will make its way to the North Shore and be contested at Kernwood Country Club in Salem on June 18-20. Defending and five-time champion Geoff Sisk (Marshfield, MA) will be looking to claim a record sixth title.
The premier event of the season – the Massachusetts Amateur Championship – will be held at Concord Country Club for the second time in the event's history. Defending champion Ben Spitz (The Harmon Club) will look to capture The Commonwealth Cup for a second straight year on July 9-13 in Concord. The State Amateur, which has been the most subscribed MGA Championship event since its inception in 1903, features a host of impressive qualifying sites such as Bay Club at Mattapoisett, Springfield Country Club, Franklin Country Club, Wianno Club, Indian Ridge Country Club, Vesper Country Club, Whitinsville Golf Club, Milton-Hoosic Club, Pine Brook Country Club, Green Hill Municipal Golf Course and Bass Rocks Golf Club.
