Headline: Second Round of Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship Set for Monday Has Been Cancelled

Dennis, MA – Due to the continuous flooding rain on Cape Cod, the MGA today announced that the second round of the 2006 Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship – which had been re-scheduled for Monday, June 26th – has been cancelled. The heavy amounts of rain which fell on the host sites of Dennis Pines Golf Course and Dennis Highlands Golf Course rendered both courses unplayable. There will be no make-up date for this second round of play.

As a result of the cancellation of the second round, the MGA announced that the event will have co-champions this year. The decision was made due to the fact that the field completed the first round of the event on two separate courses. It was therefore impossible to declare an outright solo champion since half of the field competed on Dennis Pines Golf Course and the other half on Dennis Highlands Golf Course back in early May.

The co-champions of the 2006 Massachusetts Four-Ball Championship are Peter Alminas (Elmcrest CC) and Steven Alminas (Elmcrest CC), who fired an 8-under par 63 at Dennis Highlands Golf Course, and John Mazzocca (Walpole CC) and Donald MacIntyre (Foxborough CC), who posted a 4-under par 68 at Dennis Pines Golf Course.

The MGA will honor these champions at its annual Salute to Champions Dinner scheduled for the first week in January.
