Headline: Reed, Arvanitis Advance to U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship Following Qualifying
Keene, NH – On the final day of sectional qualifying held in the New England region, two players performed exceptionally at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, New Hampshire and earned themselves a spot at the 2006 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, which will be held next month in Washington.
Finishing as medalist with a dominating score of 9-under par 135 was Robert Reed (Claremont, NH). Reed turned in his scorecard after the first 18 holes after firing a 7-under par 65. He followed up that round with another solid 2-under par 70. Reed is coming off a spectacular sophomore golf campaign at Boston College where he was named to the 2006 All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team
Four strokes back of Reed at 5-under par 139 was another New Hampshire golfer, Daniel Arvanitis (Manchester, NH). Arvanitis posted the round of the day… an 8-under par 64 during the morning hours. His 3-over par 75 performance registered later that day was enough to capture that second and final qualifying spot.
About the Championships:
