Headline: Champions Tour Star Allen Doyle to Highlight The First Tee Grand Opening at Reedy Meadow GC in Lynnfield on Thursday, June 8th
Norton, MA – Champions Tour star Allen Doyle will join local junior golfers and the general public at a special Grand Opening celebration of The First Tee of Massachusetts facility at Reedy Meadow Golf Course in Lynnfield on Thursday, June 8th.
Doyle, in town this week to compete at the Bank of America Championship, will take part in an hour-long, interactive clinic with the junior golfers beginning at 4:30 p.m. In addition to answering questions about his successful golf career, he will also give the youngsters tips on how to improve their game.
The First Tee of Massachusetts facility in Lynnfield is the second such satellite chapter to open up in this state since The First Tee of Massachusetts was launched in 2003. Reedy Meadow Golf Course joins the Fenway Golf Center in Springfield, which opened its doors in 2005. The home base for The First Tee of Massachusetts is MGA Links at Mamantapett, an 18-hole, par 3 facility located Norton.
The First Tee of Massachusetts is committed to bringing opportunities in the game of golf to underprivileged youth by providing access for many youth-based community programs run by the local Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCAs, among others. During the summer of 2005, more than 400 youth from 25 different communities participated in a seven week golf and life skills development program at the MGA Links facility. As part of the curriculum, the children progressed through a series of golf lessons where they were introduced to the different aspects of a golf course including the green, tee, fairway, rough, bunkers and water hazards.
The opening of the Lynnfield chapter at Reedy Meadow Golf Course will allow local youth from the North Shore and beyond to take part in similar programming throughout the summer months.
