Headline: Ken & Beth Costello Capture 2005 Massachusetts Father & Daughter Championship

Kingston, MA – A bogey on the first playoff hole proved to be enough for the team of Ken Costello (Segregansett CC) and Beth Costello (Segregansett CC) as they captured the 2005 Massachusetts Father & Daughter Championship this afternoon at Indian Pond Country Club. This year marks the second title for the Costellos, who prevailed at Whitinsville Golf Club in 2001.

The Costellos, who play out of Segregansett Country Club, finished 18 holes in a tie at even par 72 with Michael Stewart (Marshfield CC) and Jennifer Stewart (Marshfield CC). The two teams then moved onto the 1st hole where the Costellos registered a bogey 5, which was just enough to walk away with their second title in five years. En route to their playoff victory, the Costellos posted four bogeys and four birdies on the day. On the front nine, the duo made three bogies and one birdie while on the back they made three birdies – on the 11th, 14th and 16th holes – and only one bogey.

The Stewarts made the turn at 1-under par before posting a 1-over par 37 on the back nine to finish at even par 72. One shot back of the leaders at 1-over par 73 were David Friel (Vesper CC) and Elizabeth Friel (Vesper CC). Paul Chiampa (Longmeadow CC) and Meredith Chiampa (Longmeadow CC) claimed fourth place with a score of 3-over par 75… the team jumped into fourth place after making birdie on two of their last three holes.
