Headline: New England Junior Championship Is Underway at Brattleboro Country Club

Brattleboro, VT – The 2005 New England Junior Championship, an annual event sponsored by the New England Golf Association (NEGA), kicked off today at Brattleboro Country Club in Brattleboro, Vermont.

The top seven golfers, aged 17 or younger, from each of the six New England states earned the right to represent their states in this championship. The competitors compete in two rounds of 18-hole stroke play on Tuesday. A final 18-hole round of stroke play will be conducted on Wednesday to determine the 2005 team and individual champions. The top five of seven scores count for each of the three rounds played.

Following the first two rounds of stroke play, the team from Rhode Island leads the way with 728 points. Team Massachusetts currently stands in third place with a score of 743, just three points back of second-place New Hampshire.

Competing for Team Massachusetts this year are: Colin Brennan (Indian Ridge CC), Antonio Grillo (Farm Neck GC), Evan Harmeling (Andover CC), Taylor Fontaine (Pleasant Valley CC), Connor Wentzell (Tatnuck CC), Davis Mullany (Wyantenuck CC) and Zack Ungvarsky (CC of Billerica).
