Headline: Massachusetts Junior Championship Field Set Following Qualifying Rounds at Six Sites

Norton, MA – Following 18-holes of stroke play at six sites across the state, the field for the 2005 Massachusetts Junior Championship has been determined.

A total of 120 players (60 players in the Junior Division, 40 players in the Pre-Junior Division and 20 players in the Boys Division) will compete in Championship Proper, which will be held on August 1-3 at Red Tail Golf Club in Devens.

Qualifying was held today at the following sites: Amherst Golf Club, Long Meadow Golf Club, Monoosnock Country Club, North Hill Country Club, Taconic Golf Club, The Harmon Club

Qualifying Highlights:
- The day’s low score – a 4-under par 67 – was posted by Davis Mullany (Wyantenuck CC) at Taconic Golf Club. Mullany, who qualified in the Junior Division this year, is no stranger to competition as he competed in the Pre-Junior division at the 2004 Massachusetts Junior Championship and finished in 8 th place.
- Today’s qualifying rounds featured one female golfer who competed in the Junior Division at Taconic Golf Club. Alexis Kelleher (Worcester CC) posted a score of 24-over par 95 to finish as second alternate.
- The Championship’s largest qualifying sites, The Harmon Club and North Hill CC, included 12 Junior Division and six Pre-Junior Division qualifiers from each site.
- Eligibility for the three divisions is as follows: Junior Division ( open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club, who have reached their 16th birthday and will not reach their 18th birthday by midnight August 1, 2005 ); Pre-Junior Division (open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club, who have reached their 14th birthday and will not reach their 16th birthday by midnight August 1, 2005 ); and Boys Division (open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club who will not reach their 14th birthday by midnight August 1, 2005 ).
