Headline: 2005 Massachusetts Amateur Championship Kicks Off on July 11th at Essex CC
Norton, MA – With less than one week remaining before the 97th playing of the Massachusetts Amateur Championship, the MGA today released starting times and pairings for the first two rounds of stroke play. The highly-anticipated Massachusetts Amateur Championship will take place at Essex County Club on July 11-15, 2005.
This year’s Massachusetts Amateur Championship is sure to be one to remember as six-time Richard D. Haskell MGA Player of the Year Frank Vana , Jr. (Marlborough CC) will look to defend the title he captured last year at Taconic Golf Club.
This year, a host of competitors will look to battle Vana for The Massachusetts Cup at Essex County Club including Andy Drohen (St. Anne CC), Bill Drohen (Bradford CC), Kevin Quinn (Charles River CC) and 2005 Massachusetts Open Low Amateur Tim Acquaviva (Andover CC).
Championship Proper will consist of 18 holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday. Following the second round, the low 32 scorers will continue on to Match Play Competition. A total of 144 competitors, including 15 exempt players, are scheduled to compete in this year’s event.

Second Round, 18 Holes Stroke Play
(The low 32 scorers will continue on to Match Play Competition. In the event of a tie, a sudden-death playoff will be used to determine the final Match Play participants.)
