Headline: Kyle Gallo, Fran Quinn & Rob Oppenheim Advance at U.S. Open Local Qualifying

Harvard, MA – Kyle Gallo (Kensington, CT) and Fran Quinn (Holden, MA) led a field of qualifiers on Monday with a score of 3-under par 68 to claim co-medalist honors at U.S. Open Local Qualifying, which was held today at Shaker Hills Golf Club in Harvard.

Also qualifying this afternoon was the 2002 Massachusetts Amateur Champion Rob Oppenheim (Andover, MA), who finished with a score of 2-under par 69.

Gallo, who competes on the Nationwide Tour, took advantage of a strong front nine score of 3-under par 33 to fuel his low round. Meanwhile, Quinn – the 1990 Massachusetts Open champion who this year will be competing on the Nationwide Tour for an eighth straight year – was a model of consistency this afternoon as he posted identical 34s to advance to the next round of U.S. Open qualifying. The final qualifier of the day was Oppenheim, who has played on the Canadian Tour for the past three years.

By virtue of qualifying today, these three competitors have earned the right to advance to U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying, which will be held on June 6-7. This year’s U.S. Open Championship is scheduled for June 16-19 at Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in the Village of Pinehurst , N.C .
