Headline: New England Senior Championship Begins at Rhode Island Country Club

Barrington, RI– The New England Senior Championship will be held on October 5-6 at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, Rhode Island.

Following the first round of 18-hole stroke play on Tuesday, the entire field will return on Wednesday for a second and final round. The field will be repaired by score for the final round.

Defending champion Tom Martin (TPC of Boston) will be looking to capture his second straight New England Senior Championship title. Last year, Martin finished this event at 2-over par 146 and defeated three other competitors -- Bill McInerney (Charles River CC - MA), Jim Ruschioni (Oak Hill CC - MA) and Jim Holbrook (Indian Ridge CC - MA) -- in a playoff.

The New England Golf Association (NEGA) conducts three major amateur championships each year: New England Amateur Championship, New England Junior Invitational and the New England Senior Championship.
