Headline: Four Massachusetts Golfers Dominate… and Advance at U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifying

Seekonk, MA – It was a Massachusetts sweep today at U.S. Senior Amateur Championship qualifying, which was held at Ledgemont Country Club in Seekonk, Massachusetts. Four golfers who hail from local Bay State clubs advanced following the 18-hole qualifying round.

Leading the field and capturing a share of medalist honors were three players – Dave Houghton (Orleans, MA), Edward Fletcher (Mashpee, MA) and Joseph Keller (Osterville, MA) – who posted a score of even par 71. The final qualifier at Seekonk was yet another familiar name, Jim Ruschioni (Leominster, MA). Ruschioni, who just last year turned 55 years of old and was therefore eligible to compete in senior events, turned in a score of 1-over par 72 and qualified following a playoff with Paul Quigley (Barrington, RI).

Today’s qualifiers have earned the right to advance to the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship, scheduled for October 9-14 at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, California.
