Headline: Joseph and Jaclyn Sweeney Win 2004 Massachusetts Father & Daughter Championship
Lakeville, MA – The dynamic duo of Joseph Sweeney (Indian Ridge CC) and Jaclyn Sweeney (Indian Ridge CC) finished with an even par 72 to capture the 2004 Father & Daughter Championship, which was held today at LeBaron Hills Country Club in Lakeville, Massachusetts.
The team, who are both members of Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, fired 14 pars to go along with two birdies on 6th and 10th holes and 2 bogeys (on the 1st and 18th holes) to finish two strokes ahead of the teams of Mark Connolly (Indian Pond CC) and Kerri Connolly (Indian Pond CC) and the 2000 champions of this event, Brian Callery (The Ridge Club) and Elizabeth Callery (The Milton-Hoosic Club). Both teams finished at 2-over par 74.
This year marks the first victory for the Sweeneys, who managed to hit 17
greens in regulation en route to their victory. Jaclyn, who holds a 0.2 GHIN
Handicap Index, will be entering her freshman year at Andover High School
this fall and will be playing in tomorrow's WGAM Junior-Junior event at Cyprian
Keyes Golf Club in Boylston.
Another highlight of the day came courtesy of Jessica Hughes (Vesper CC),
who scored a hole in one on the 107-yard, par 3 4th hole. Hughes, who along
with her father Ken Hughes (Vesper CC) finished in a tie for seventh place
with a score of 7-over par 79, knocked a "half-wedge" for the ace.
