Headline: Massachusetts Junior Championship Field Set Following Qualifying Rounds at Five Sites

Norton, MA – Following 18-holes of stroke play at five sites across the state, the field for the 2004 Massachusetts Junior Championship has been determined. A total of 120 players (60 players in the Junior Division, 40 players in the Pre-Junior Division and 20 players in the Boys Division) will compete in Championship Proper, which will be held on August 2-4 at Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Qualifying was held today at the following sites:

July 19: Bay Pointe CC, CC of Pittsfield
Fresh Pond CC, Furnace Brook GC,
Indian Meadows GC

Qualifying Highlights:
- The day’s low score – an even par 71 – was posted by Andy Lesenski (CC of Greenfield) at Country Club of Pittsfield. Lesenski, who qualified in the Junior Division, is no stranger to competition as he is a past club champion at his home course, Country Club of Greenfield.
- The Championship’s largest qualifying site, Indian Meadows GC, included 18 Junior Division and six Pre-Junior Division qualifiers.
- Eligibility for the three divisions is as follows: Junior Division (open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club, who have reached their 16th birthday and will not reach their 18th birthday by midnight August 2, 2004); Pre-Junior Division (open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club, who have reached their 14th birthday and will not reach their 16th birthday by midnight August 2, 2004); and Boys Division (open to amateur golfers who play at an MGA member club who will not reach their 14th birthday by midnight August 2, 2004).
