Headline: Geoffrey Sisk Claims Medalist Honors at U.S. Open Local Qualifying
Plymouth, MA – Geoffrey Sisk (Marshfield, MA), the 1995, 1997 and 2002 Massachusetts Open Champion, claimed medalist honors at U.S. Open Local Qualifying, which was held this afternoon at Pinehills GC in Plymouth, by shooting a 6-under par 66. Sisk edged Michael Beard (Palm Desert, CA) by one stroke. Another former Massachusetts Open Champion, Fran Quinn (Holden, MA) also qualified today with a 4-under par 68.
These seven qualifiers are vying for a spot at this year’s U.S. Open Championship, which will be held on June 17-20 at Shinnecock Hills GC in Southampton, NY. A second and final round of local qualifying will take place on May 24th at Twin Hills GC.
The MGA annually conducts qualifying rounds for the major United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships, including the U.S. Open, Senior Open, Amateur, Junior Amateur, Senior Amateur, Mid-Amateur and the Amateur Public Links.
