Paul Parajeckas (Woburn, MA) and Jim Sheerin (Rye Beach, NH) claimed the only
two qualifying spots at U.S. Senior Open local qualifying that was held this
afternoon at Willowbend Golf Club in Mashpee, Massachusetts.
Parajeckas played even par golf on the front nine, but pulled away from the field by shooting a 3-under par 33 en route to his medalist score of 3-under par 68. Sheerin finished four strokes back at 1-over par 72. As a result of their performance today, the two have earned a spot at the U.S. Senior Open Championship, which will be contested on June 26-29 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
The MGA annually conducts qualifying rounds for the major United States Golf Association (USGA) Championships, including the U.S. Open, Senior Open, Amateur, Junior Amateur, Senior Amateur, Mid-Amateur and the Amateur Public Links.
