For Immediate Release: June 4, 2002

A handful of Massachusetts golfers tried their hand at U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying that was held on June 3-4 at 12 locations across the country. Although no local players advanced to the U.S. Open Championship, former Massachusetts golfer Jason Caron, who now resides in Jupiter, FL, finished as a qualifier after shooting a 74-68--142 at the Purchase, NY site. In addition, 2001 Massachusetts Open champion, Rich Parker, finished as second alternate at that same site.
