For Immediate Release: June 26, 2001
Trevor Murphy (St. Johnsbury, VT) emerged from Skyline CC on Tuesday
afternoon as the fourth and final qualifier for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
Murphy finished tied with William Menard (Agawam, MA) at 6 over par 148 but
was able to secure medalist honors in a playoff. A total of 17 golfers competed
at Skyline CC in hopes of securing that final qualifying spot.
Jon Curran (Hopkinton, MA) finished two strokes back at 8 over par 150. Brendan Mahoney (Milton, MA) and Brennan Albano (East Longmeadow, MA) will serve as third and fourth alternates, respectively.
Murphy will now join Monday's qualifiers - Kevin Silva, Jim Renner and Evan Hahn - at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which will be held on July 24-28 at Oaks Hills CC in San Antonio, Texas.
