George M. Cohen of Longmeadow, MA is the 1998 recipient of the
Frank H. Sellman Distinguished Service Award presented by the Massachusetts
Golf Association.
Among his many contributions to golf statewide, the six-time Crestview Country Club champion served nearly 20 years on the MGA executive committee, including terms as secretary and treasurer. Cohen has also served as a member of the USGA Sectional Affairs committee for several years.
"George is a major reason we have had a succession of outstanding volunteers from the Springfield area and from the Berkshires," commented Tom Landry, MGA Executive Director. "He’s done more for golf in Western Massachusetts than any one individual. We are pleased to honor him with our distinguished service award."
The award will be presented to Cohen at the MGA’s 37th Annual Spring Conference "A Salute to The Ryder Cup" on Tuesday, March 9th at the Westin Copley Place Boston.
