Justin Peters of Pembroke Country Club is the recipient of the 1998 Richard D. Haskell Player of the Year presented by the Massachusetts Golf Association. Peters, a senior at the University of Nevada Reno, amassed 635 points to edge out two-time Player of the Year Frank Vana, Jr. of Marlboro Country Club by 29 points.

Highlights of Peters' season include wins at the Hornblower Invitational and New England Country Club Invitational, low amateur honors and a fifth place finish overall at the Massachusetts Open, advancing to match play at the United States Amateur Public Links Championship, and a sixth place finish at the Ouimet Memorial.

Peters will be honored along with MGA Senior Player of the Year Ed Fletcher, Christopher Cutler Rich Junior Player of the Year Kenneth Lewis, and the winners of all 1998 MGA Championships at a Champions Dinner in January.
