News Release
For Immediate Release: October 8, 1998
Kenneth Lewis of Dennis Pines Golf Course is the 1998 recipient
of the Christopher Cutler Rich Junior Player of the Year Award presented by
the Massachusetts Golf Association. Lewis, a junior at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional
High School, was medalist in United States Junior Amateur Local Qualifying
and a Semi-finalist at the Championship proper. He edged out Dennis Pines
club-mates Brent Wanner and Michael Carbone to win the award for the second
time (1996, 1998).
Other highlights of Lewis' season include third place finishes at the Big "I" Championship and the AJGA Tucker Anthony Championship, and a sixth place finish at the Massachusetts Junior Championship.
Lewis will be honored along with Richard D. Haskell MGA Player of the Year Justin Peters, MGA Senior Player of the Year Edward Fletcher, and the winners of all 1998 MGA Championships at a Champions Dinner in January.
The Christopher Cutler Rich Trophy is presented each year to the MGA Junior
Player of the Year in memory of Christopher Rich, the junior club champion
at Myopia Hunt Club who was tragically killed in 1997.
