For Immediate Release: July 24, 2017

Inclement weather forced the suspension of play on Monday at the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier being held at Crestview CC.

Agawam, MA — Due to unplayable conditions at Crestview Country Club on Monday, competition at the 2017 U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier being held there was suspended for the day at 1:00 p.m.

Play will resume at 8:30 a.m. The second round will begin immediately following the conclusion of the first round.

"Unfortunately Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate in our sport," said Laura Nochta, the MGA's Manager of NEGA Operations & USGA Qualifying. "We appreciate everyone's patience, the tireless work of the grounds crew and the generosity of the club to allow the qualifier to be completed on Tuesday."

When play was suspended, a total of 16 competitors had completed and unofficially reported nine-hole scores, which can be viewed by clicking here.

The 67 competitors who made up Monday's starting field will be vying for two qualifying and two alternate spots for the 2017 U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held on August 14-20 at Riviera Country Club (Pacific Palisades, Calif.).

An additional U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier will be held on July 25 at Andover Country Club.
