Headline: 18 More Advance and 2017 Massachusetts Open Championship Field Now Set Following Final Qualifier Held at Eastward Ho!

Eastward Ho! hosted the final qualifying round for the 2017 MGA Amateur Championship.

Chatham, MA — The final 2017 Massachusetts Open Championship qualifier has come and gone, and 18 more competitors were added to the Championship field after qualifying at Chatham’s Eastward Ho! on Wednesday. For the mix of 11 professional and seven amateur players, they won’t have to travel far as the 108th playing of the Championship Proper, being contested at The Golf Club at Sacconnesset from June 12-14 in Falmouth.

Wednesday’s scores ranged from a 6-under par 65 to 1-over par 72. An additional seven competitors from the sixth and final Mass Open qualifier of the season shot a 2-over par 73 and were named alternates for the event. All alternates and will be placed on a priority list per the Alternate Policy, which can be found on the MGA Policies and Procedures Page.

Brendan Lemp’s 6-under par 65 score was the lowest score among all 2017 Massachusetts Open Championship qualifiers.

Wednesday’s 18 qualifiers were a tie for the most competitors from a single MGA Open qualifying site for the 2017 season. At Belmont Country Club on May 15, 18 players shot between 1-over 72 and 6-over 77 to qualify for this year’s Championship Proper.
