Wilbraham, MA — On Tuesday, the field of qualifiers for next month’s 108th Massachusetts Amateur Championship was finalized when eight players shot a 3-over par 75 or better at the Country Club of Wilbraham.

Following the 10th and final qualifier for the 2016 MGA Amateur, being held at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown from July 11-15, there are now 110 qualifiers and ties to make the cut for the state’s longest tenured tournament.

On Tuesday, it was a pair of Crumpin-Fox Club members who earned a share of the lead by hitting an even par 72 at the Willie Ogg designed course.

Troy Miller tallied three birdies and an eagle on the par 5 6th hole, while Cody Booska used a string of three birdies in four holes on the back nine to earn his spot. The duo was joined atop the leaderboard by Todd Ezold (Tekoa CC), who made birdie or par on 14 of the 18 holes to also finish T1 with an even par 72 score.

Tuesday’s field saw three participants tie for fourth after shooting one 1-over par 73 while the final two spots went to a pair who shot 3-over par 75 on the day.

In addition, four players shot 4-over par 76 to net alternate spots.

With the last of the qualifiers now complete, final pairings for the first two rounds of the MGA Amateur will be the next step in setting the stage for the state’s top amateur event of the summer..
