Headline: Don't Miss Out... The Time Has Come to Guess Those Birdies as Part of the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship's Birdies for Charity Program

For Immediate Release: July 20, 2010

The wildly popular Birdies for Charity Program Makes a Return in 2010. Support The First Tee of Massachusetts and win great prizes!

Norton, MA — The time has come to help support The First Tee of Massachusetts and take part in New England's most exciting and fun contest!

Making a return in 2010, the Deutsche Bank Championship's Birdies for Charity Program gives participants a chance to support local New England Charities — including The First Tee of Massachusetts which provides junior programming to youth across the Bay State — and an opportunity to win two great prizes.

Each pledge of $0.01 per birdie or more (see complete instructions below) will allow the donor a chance to enter the "Guess the Birdies" Contest.

The contestant who guesses the correct number of birdies made by PGA TOUR professionals during the 2010 Deutsche Bank Championship will win the Grand Prize of Two (2) season tickets for the 2011 Red Sox at Fenway Park. The First Place Prize is a trip for two to Bermuda, including an all-expenses paid trip for two (2) to the 2010 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at Port Royal.

Participation is easy and all support goes a long way towards helping to continue and expand junior golf services here in Massachusetts since all participating charities receive 100% of all paid pledges solicited on their behalf.

To make a pledge, follow these simple steps:

  • Log onto the official championship website at www.dbchampionship.com and
select "Charity" then "Birdies for Charity" from the menu bar
  • Decide what kind of pledge you plan to make — Per Birdie or Straight Donation
  • Select The First Tee of Massachusetts as your charity.
  • Enter the Guess the Birdies Contest by guessing how many birdies will be made by PGA TOUR Pros at this year's Deutsche Bank Championship
  • If you would prefer to make a pledge by mail, you can do that as well by downloading the 2010 Pledge Form by clicking here.

To help you make that important guess, here is a history of birdies made during the Deutsche Bank Championship:

2004 - 1,364
2005 - 1,587
2006 - 1,279
2007 - 1,310
2008 - 1,479
2009 - 1,291

On behalf of the Massachusetts Golf Association and The First Tee of Massachusetts, we thank you for your support... and best of luck guessing those birdies!!
