Northborough, MA — Spectacular golf was on display at Juniper Hill Golf Course on Tuesday as Mitchell Fedorka (Upland, CA) carded 12 birdies through 36 holes of golf en route to a medalist score of 10-under par 132 during 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links Sectional Qualifying which was held at Juniper Hill Golf Course.
Fedorka, who is coming off his senior campaign at the University of La Verne, posted five birdies and zero bogies during his first 18 holes and then followed that up with seven birdies and two bogies in the afternoon for identical scores of 5-under par 66.
Just last month, Fedorka led his Leopards team to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships at Hershey Links in Hershey, PA. For the second year in a row, Fedorka earned back-to-back runner-up finishes at the NCAA Championships.
One of the most celebrated golfers in school, history Fedorka was named to the University of La Verne's All Decade Golf team, captured the 2009 Jack Nicklaus Award as the top golfer in Division III and was named SCIAC Player of the Year last season en route to helping lead La Verne to a second place finish at the NCAA Championship.
Also, qualifying in Northborough was the Bay State's own Dan Falcucci (Cyprian Keyes GC), who came through with an afternoon score of 2-under par 69 to capture the second of three qualifying spots. Through 36 holes, he registered a score of 2-under par 140, which included six birdies through his final 18 holes.
A former All-Region player for Bryant University, Falcucci finished second at the 2008 Massachusetts Amateur Public Links Championship. He will look to vie for that title again later this summer.
