For Immediate Release: February 12, 2010

Norton, MA — Congratulations are in order for one Member Club golf professional.

Jim Casagrande, head golf professional at Northampton Country Club, will be the guest of honor at the 65th Western Mass. Tee Party.

Casagrande will be recognized for his contributions to golf on April 29 at Country Club of Greenfield. The Tee Party, the unofficial kickoff to the local golf season, features golf and dinner.

"This is a great honor," Casagrande said to reporter Russ Held of The Republican. "I have gone to pretty much every Tee Party I could over the years. It’s a tremendous honor."

Casagrande, 50, has been a longtime club professional and a PGA Class A member since 1986.

He has been at Northampton CC for six years. His longest head pro stint was 15 years at Westover Golf Course in Ludlow. His first head pro job came at Pine Grove Golf Course in Northampton.

Casagrande played as the No. 1 man on the golf team at American International College, but he never ventured into a playing career.

While earning an accounting degree at AIC, he started his pro golf career as an assistant at Veterans GC in Springfield. He spends the offseason running his own tax practitioner business in Northampton.
