Headline: MGA Member Club — Granite Links Golf Club — Honored as the 2010 Course of the Year for the New England Region By the NGCOA

For Immediate Release: February 6, 2010

Norton, MA — It will be a memorable week for one MGA Member Club.

As part of the 2010 National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) Annual Conference scheduled for this week in San Diego, Granite Links Golf Club will be honored as the winner of the organization’s "2010 Course of the Year" for the New England region.

The Quincy-based club will be recognized for demonstrating excellence across four criteria — exceptional quality of the course, exceptional management, outstanding contribution to its community and significant contribution to the game.

Each NGCOA regional organization selects a Chapter Course of the Year and each is then considered a finalist for National Course of the Year. Accepting the award for Granite Links Golf Club in San Diego will be Head Superintendant Brad MacDonald

"We’re honored by this designation and pleased to be able send Brad to receive the award on our behalf," said Walter Hannon III, Granite Links Golf Course general manager, "He and his team provide such great care and superlative maintenance to our course and we’re keenly aware that this is a critical contributing factor to all the wonderful recognition Granite Links has been getting."

"Granite Links is to be commended for not just persevering during one of the most challenging economic times our industry has seen, but actually prospering and growing," said Kevin Osgood, president of the New England Golf Course Owners Association (NEGCOA). "It's a real testament to the quality of golf experience they’re offering that demand for tee times has not waned and desire for new membership enrollments is still so strong."

Located seven miles south of Boston, Granite Links Golf Club was named a "Top Ten Best New Upscale Golf Course in the Country" by Golf Digest shortly after its opening. Additional accolades later included "Four Star Best Places to Play" and "Top Fifty Best 19th Holes in America" and most recently, Granite Links made the publication's list of the "Top 100 Courses in America."
