For Immediate Release: February , 2010
Norton, MA — In time for the start of the golf season, the major New England golf associations will come together to host the 2010 New England Golf Summit.
This collaborative effort, which will be held on March 31 at Andover Country Club, will feature a keynote address and informative breakout sessions that will address current challenges surrounding the game and help club personnel and club officials better prepare for the upcoming golf season.
Serving as hosts of this inaugural, one-day event are the following organizations: Golf Course Superintendents Association of New England (GCSANE), New England Club Managers Association (NECMA), New England Golf Course Owners Association (NEGCOA), New England PGA (NEPGA), Ouimet Fund, Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA), New England Golf Association (NEGA), United States Golf Association (USGA), Deutsche Bank Championship and the Women’s Golf Association of Massachusetts.
"We are excited about providing this service to our Member Clubs especially during these challenging economic times," said Joe Sprague, executive director of the Massachusetts Golf Association. "The schedule of events will hopefully equip club personnel and officials with ideas and information that will better prepare them for the upcoming season."
Headlining the program of events will be Henry DeLozier, a principal at Global Golf Advisors.
The audience made up of golf professionals, managers, superintendents, presidents, owners, golf chairmen and handicap chairmen will enjoy listening to DeLozier, who has spent his career in golf-related businesses. He has been a fine player, is a former golf professional, has served as a general manager of resorts and clubs, has managed a publicly traded portfolio of golf assets and, now, is a partner in one of the largest golf advisory firms in the world called Global Golf Advisors.
DeLozier has been recognized by GolfInc magazine as one of the "Most Influential People in Golf" for nine consecutive year. He serves as an expert source for Business Week, CNBC-Squawk Box, the Financial Times of London, GOLF magazine, Golf Digest, Golf Business, GolfInc magazine, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.
In addition to his role as keynote speaker, DeLozier will join a handful of other industry leaders during the breakout session portion of the event.
One breakout session will no doubt draw much attention as the issue of golf and the environment will take center stage. Participants in this breakout session will be Duane LeVangie, program manager of the Mass DEP Water Management Act, Jim Skorulski, USGA senior agronomist and Dr. Nathaniel Mitkowski, associate professor of plant pathology at the University of Rhode Island.
In addition, the New England Golf Summit will welcome Sue Wegrzyn, President & CEO of the National Club Association, who will lead a breakout session entitled "Trends and Legal/Legislative Issues For Golf: A Future Outlook".
