Headline: New MGA Links Clubhouse Takes Major Step... Gives Members A Glimpse At What Is to Come in the Spring of 2010
For Immediate Release: December 7, 2009
Norton, MA — What was once a pile of rubble is now taking shape.
The frame of the new MGA Links at Mamantapett clubhouse — scheduled to open in the spring of 2010 — was erected earlier this month to give excited members a glimpse at what is to come.
Since its opening in 2003, the MGA-operated par 3 facility in Norton has served as home to The First Tee of Massachusetts and is also open year-round for public play. As a result of its many and widespread offerings, the course received the 2008 Best of Norton Award in the Golf Courses category from the U.S. Local Business Association.
One of the driving forces behind the course earning national recognition was the fact that the dedicated staff manages a junior program of 600 — by far the most offered in this state and perhaps nationwide — and services hundreds of golfers of all ages and skill levels through public play, league opportunities and special clinics and events.
In addition, the facility has hosted regional The First Tee training sessions for the Northeast region, as well as the Barclay’s Tri-State match.
Construction will continue through March when the clubhouse is set to open for the start of the new season. During this time, the golf course will remain open for public play (weather permitting).

About the MGA Junior Golf Fund
In 2006, the Massachusetts Golf Association launched the MGA Junior Golf Fund in hopes of supporting all of its junior golf initiatives.
The MGA currently operates The First Tee of Massachusetts in hopes of introducing a younger generation to the game of golf. The First Tee of Massachusetts is a statewide initiative that offers programming at MGA Links at Mamantapett located in Norton. The program is offered at sites in Lynnfield, Springfield, and Hyannis in addition to a variety of seasonal programs at other locations around the state. The First Tee is a unique program that introduces children to the game of golf while at the same time using the Nine Core Values of The First Tee curriculum to teach life skills that are important on and off the golf course.
