Headline: Record Number of Participants Take Part in 3rd Annual MGA Junior Golf Fund Golf Tournament at TPC of Boston

For Immediate Release: October 13, 2009

Norton, MA — Despite cool temperatures and scattered showers, a record number
of golfers took part in the 3rd Annual MGA Junior Golf Fund Golf Tournament at TPC
of Boston in Norton.

All monies raised will go directly to The First Tee of Massachusetts which provides junior golf programming to thousands of children from across the Bay State.

"We were amazed at the spirit and enthusiasm displayed by all of the participants," said Joe McCabe, executive director of The First Tee of Massachusetts. "No one let the weather get them down and in the end everyone had a great time and we were able to raise important funds and awareness for The First Tee program."

Supporting this event for the third straight season was tournament sponsor Wal-Mart. Following the day’s events, representatives from Wal-Mart took a moment to meet a handful of The First Tee of Massachusetts participants who were on hand during the post-event celebration. The Wal-Mart representatives – as well as the entire field – were able to learn more about the children whose lives have been positively impacted by the program.

In addition to learning basic skills of the game, The First Tee participants are introduced to the nine core values inherent in the game: honesty, integrity, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, sportsmanship, judgment, respect and courtesy.

The unique life skills platform of The First Tee helps participants become comfortable introducing themselves to others, meeting new people, learning something new, setting goals, and dealing with conflict. The life skills learned are useful for the participants both on and off the golf course.

This past season, more than 3,000 Bay State youth took part in The First Tee programming at one of the eight program affiliates – MGA Links at Mamantapett, Fenway Golf Range, Reedy Meadow Golf Course, Hyannis Golf Club, Dennis Highlands Golf Course, Old Salem Greens Golf Course, CityGolf-Boston and Camp Harbor View.

Another important sponsor of the event was the host site of TPC of Boston. While the TPC Network has always enjoyed a strong relationship with The First Tee national office, the Norton course welcomed the 3rd Annual MGA Junior Golf Fund Golf Tournament with open arms. The course generously donated cart and greens fees and provided a discount on all food and beverages.
